Business Background and
Experience
The Job Shop Contract & Staffing Service
is a local, women-owned company that began eighteen years
ago in London, Kentucky. Christina Finley, founder and CEO
has committed to servicing our businesses and community for
eighteen years. Since 1986, the company has expanded from
one employee to over 40 well-trained, dedicated professionals,
with four affiliate companies and nine locations throughout
Kentucky.
Along with the traditional staffing of temporary
and temp-to-hire placement. The Job Shop offers medical staffing,
direct hire recruiting and placement, technical temporary
and temp-to-hire, client drug testing for pre-employment,
random and work-related injuries, various employee background
checks, alcohol breathalyzer DOT testing, CPR, first-aid and
blood borne pathogen training, PEO, HRO and computer software
training.
We believe it is critical to understand the
internal and external issues that affect your company, even
impending legislation, as well as human resource management
issues specific to your business. Many of our clients consider
us a strong right arm in helping them realize their objectives
of cost containment in securing and maintaining a skilled,
productive work force.
Quality Assurance
Not just anyone can get a job at The Job Shop.
All applicants must pass
a through screening process to ensure the high level of quality
that you require for your labor force. All
applicants receive a qualifying interview from a well-trained
staffing specialist, complete reference checks, skills evaluation,
safety training and drug test. The process itself requires
a minimum of three hours, and gives our staffing specialist
thorough knowledge of the candidate before we send them to
work.
Our staffing specialists are trained in all
aspects of employment from screening and recruitment to discipline
and termination. All staffing specialists are certified in
federal and state employment law including Equal Opportunity
Laws, wrongful discharge, FMLA, HIPAA, and ADA. They are also
trained in worker’s compensation laws and injury/illness
prevention.
With a full-time Risk Control manager on our
staff, we keep abreast of any pending legislation or OSHA
changes that may affect safety issues in employment. We also
maintain a written injury and illness prevention program including
a light duty program to minimize loss time, and a OSHA 300
log. Every employee receives
monthly safety training to reinforce our dedication to safety.
To enhance employee retention, each temporary
employee receives vacation pay based on the number of hours
they work. Plus they become eligible for health insurance
after working one hour. The Job Shop pays for the health insurance
benefit after one year of full-time employment. We also provide
various incentives throughout the year.
